The Berlinale rewards twice Life of Riley!

The Berlinale has rewarded Alain Resnais’s last film with the Silver Bear (Alfred Bauer’s prize) and the FIPRESCI award.

This is an outstanding premiere for Life of Riley, which is based on a play by Alan Ayckbourn (also author of Smoking / No Smoking). The whole cast of the film was in Berlin for the premiere where the film received a warm welcome from the audience as well.

Variety : “If Resnais had gone into the culinary arts instead of  the cinematic ones, then he would have emerged as a molecular gastronomist avant la lettre”.

The Hollywood Reporter : “Resnais seems determined to carry the drama’s artifice to its upmost extremes”.
